XRD Graphite General Manager Zhao Dongdong Elected New President of Baofeng County Carbon Industry Association
On September 2, the Second General Assembly and Election of the Baofeng County Carbon Industry Association was held in Baofeng. Through democratic election by the general assembly, Zhao Dongdong, General Manager of Pingdingshan XRD Graphite Manufacturing Co., Ltd., was elected as the new president of the association.
Representatives from member enterprises across the county’s carbon and graphite industry attended the meeting. The assembly heard and reviewed the work report of the previous council, approved relevant items by vote, and completed the election through an uncontested ballot.
Baofeng is the largest production base for synthetic specialty graphite in China. According to public reports, the county is home to more than 60 high‑purity carbon material enterprises, with annual output accounting for over 60% of the national total. In 2023, Baofeng’s high‑purity carbon material industry helped Pingdingshan earn the title “Special Graphite Capital.” Through years of development, the region has formed a complete industrial chain from raw material production to finished product processing, with an industry development pattern of “one leader, two parks, and multiple hubs” continuing to improve.
Upon assuming the presidency, Zhao Dongdong stated at the meeting that this trust from his peers comes with a weighty responsibility. “The current business environment is complex and challenging. Competition is fierce, and running a business is not easy – every enterprise is working hard and persevering through difficulties. The more difficult the market and the tougher the environment, the less we can go it alone. This is precisely when we need to come together, support each other, and move forward side by side.”
Zhao Dongdong said he would treat the association as a shared “home base” for Baofeng’s carbon enterprises. During his tenure, he would maintain a down‑to‑earth attitude, focus on tangible work, and genuinely serve the members. He also encouraged member enterprises to increase communication, dialogue, and mutual understanding, share resources and information, complement each other’s strengths, and work together to overcome challenges and pursue development. “Together, we will protect Baofeng’s carbon industry and make it stable, solid, and strong. I also welcome feedback and oversight from all peers, partners, and customers.”
Work Directions for the New Council
1. Build a strong bridge.
Collect common concerns from member enterprises regarding production and operations in a timely manner, facilitate communication between government and businesses – ensuring policies are informed by the voice of industry, and businesses clearly understand policy directions.
2. Drive quality improvement.
Baofeng’s synthetic high‑purity graphite industry has a solid foundation and substantial scale. The next step is to work together on product consistency, inspection standards, and process specifications, and promote the development of group standards – making purchasing Baofeng graphite easier and more reliable for customers.
3. Respond to new regulations.
Since 2026, new changes have been introduced to the export management policies for graphite‑related products. The association will organise specialised briefings and training to help member enterprises understand the rules, ensure compliance, and avoid missteps.
4. Strengthen the regional brand.
Baofeng graphite’s regional reputation has been built by generations of practitioners, furnace by furnace. The new council will promote regional brand development, so that the name “Baofeng Graphite” lives up to its over‑60% share of national production – moving from “scale” to “quality” and “credibility.”
